About VR The Movement

VR The Movement is an online dance coaching and movement education platform founded and run by Lucinda van Raad. We are an industry-leading platform delivering stretch, strength, and technique programs designed to help young dancers grow with confidence. At VR The Movement, we’re here to give dancers the “Power and Inspiration to Achieve Their Dreams”

A Message from Lucinda

Growing up all I ever wanted to do was become a professional dancer. I went to a local dance studio and lived and breathed dancing. It was my whole life

Throughout my journey there was always a lot of uncertainty and anxiety, not knowing what to do, where to go and who to trust. Once I got older I also realised this anxiety and uncertainty was carried by my Mum. She always went that extra mile to give me every possible opportunity, often spending what little money she had on me and my dreams. Giving up her weekends and driving me all over the country.

After achieving my dreams dancing professionally Washington Ballet & then teaching dance myself. I thought what if there was a better way?

A proven method that could easily be used which was backed by learnings from a previous life, from mistakes, struggle, practice, failing and starting again by someone who had been there and done it.

Somewhere dancers could improve conveniently at home whilst having fun in a supportive community.

This is exactly how VR The Movement was born. It’s everything I wish I could have had growing up. I’m here to guide you, support you, and give you the tools you need to succeed — not just as a dancer, but as a person. Let this be your guiding light

And just remember anything is possible

Love lucinda

Lucinda van Raad

Lucinda van Raad is a former professional ballet dancer, RAD-registered teacher, qualified PDHPE educator, and the founder of VR The Movement. Lucinda has over 22 years of experience in ballet and contemporary dance and trained at The Australian Ballet School, Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy, McDonald College, and The Washington Ballet School’s Professional Training Program. She went on to dance professionally with The Washington Ballet Company, performing in productions including The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, and Romeo and Juliet.. She has also received recognition at respected competitions such as the Sydney Eisteddfod and the Alana Haines Awards.

After transitioning into teaching, Lucinda spent more than 12 years working with dancers of all ages and stages. Through both her professional experience and her own challenges as a young dancer, she recognised how often dancers miss out on the time needed to properly develop strength, flexibility, and core technique. VR The Movement was created to fill that gap — offering clear, supportive training that complements studio classes and helps dancers make steady, confident progress. Lucinda’s teaching style is calm, positive, and practical, with a strong focus on helping dancers understand their bodies and feel proud of their improvement. Outside of dance, she spends most of her time with her dog, Frankie, who is very much part of everyday life at VR The Movement.
